A rare and fine manifestation of the Enlightenment spirit of collection and classification, Jan Christiaan Sepp’s lavish and ligenous Houtkunde of 1791 gathered over 860 wood types from Europe and the West Indies. This complete facsimile edition presents all 106 hand-colored plates of an arresting compendium of cross-sections.
